Why “Tyler, the Creator” Stays Sober
The Grammy-winning rapper abstains from all drugs and alcohol.

Tyler, the Creator (born Tyler Okonma) is a Grammy-award winning rapper and record producer. He’s worked as a solo artist and as part of the collective Odd Future. In addition to his musical success, he’s founded a clothing company, created multiple TV shows, and even briefly ran a streaming service. (Source.)
Surprisingly, he’s done it all completely sober.
In an interview for the Creative All Star Series, Tyler said that he doesn’t drink and has only been high twice in his life — once when he tried smoking pot, and once when he ate a pot edible.
Unlike many sober people, Tyler isn’t a recovering addict. He never struggled with drug or alcohol abuse. Instead, he’s chosen from the beginning not to use mind-altering substances. He has a variety of interesting reasons for the decision.
Drinking Is Unappealing
In an interview with Fantastic Man, Tyler said that he wasn’t sure why he didn’t want to drink, but it simply didn’t appeal to him. “Why haven’t you wrestled a tiger?” he asked the interviewer. “I don’t know. I just don’t want to drink.” He continued:
